Challenges and Success of Shelby Givens (Essay Sample) Content: Challenges faced by Shelby Givens during Phase 1 i.e. the preparation for transformation were that she had to spend time in analyzing nationwide market and consumer trends related to bowling and evening entertainment, she also faced difficulty in coming up with the design in that she had nowhere to raise that amount which described as being below the market rate, Shelby lack enough funds for employing offsite caterers the amount required for this was equivalent to the amount that can be used for a full restaurant kitchen installation, there was no enough funds to build and run a full service restaurant facility in the existing space. In the design, she got a boost from students who were willing to for three summer months at no cost in return for academic credit. To address the problem of loss during the start of operation where she only spent $ 40 per person, she diverted to the use of Q3 funds to help solve the problem.The most successful action in addressing the challenges was hiring of the general manager who had experience in the operation especially in the management of caterers and restaurant operation. The least was the diversion to Q3 strategy to address the loss that was experienced in first day of operation.
